Dance of the Snakebird
1986
Alabaster carving. Bleached deal base.
Height: 13⅛” Base: 2⅛“
“A choreographic suggestion for a ballet yet to be devised. The material was very imperfect, full of blemishes and natural fissions, so that a shape requiring a lot of cutting away and boring was most suitable. Like my Dolphin Leap or my White Bird this is a work concerned with making a static form convey a particular kind of movement.” Hugo Powell
