“A celebration of a variety of unglamorous but essentially benign and exuberant creatures. Steatite is a soft stone. Much of the character of this carving results from working it loose on the bench, rolling it about and using a huge rasp instead of beginning in the usual way by fixing the material rigidly in one position before cutting.” Hugo Powell
